There
in the picture of the left, is a firefighter called Francisco, he is
the earliest son of a 9 child family, which lives near of Santiago
Chile. Because of his big family, Francisco had to went for the
attention of his neighbour Pepe, who was a voluntary fire fighter (in
Chile the fire fighters are all voluntaries, they don't get a salary
for the job). Because of the influence of Pepe, Francisco enrolled to
the firefighters of his town when he was 18 years old. Francisco
loves to be a firefighter because anytime he extinguish fire and save
the life of a person, he think that is saving all the world,
specially because he don’t get a salary.
This
picture was taken in October of 2011, when Francisco was getting
ready for going to collect money in the street, to buy new coats and
helmets for the summer. He is on the headquarters of the
firefighter in his town, where they hold equipment like for example
helmets, coats, hoses, cars, etc. His new helmet is under
his arm, he is happy because they had get a lot of money in this
month.

ResponderEliminarPD: My brother was a firefighter. He worked there for several years. In general they are mostly men, but some women are courageous enough to enroll. I lived with my brother while he was on duty... I hated hearing his radio beeping and every single call in the metropolitan area ALL NIGHT LONG!! I guess other firefighters are more considerate with their siblings.
