blogging was...

This semeter in the english class I had to create a blog and write entries about any topic in english and learn a lot of this lenguage.
I enjoyed to much this experience, because I think it was very usefull and dynamic, i learned a lot of english. At first time I wrote a entry in the blog, it was a hard job, wich took me more time than the expected, it's because i don't used to write long texts in english, but with the time, it has been a easier task, and now it could be even fun.
I think that blogging helps me a lot to improve my skills spelling above all putting in practice all the things i know in english, and in this way, don't forget the lexicon.
Blogging in the englosh class was usefull, however I think that I have a serious problem with the elglish gramar, at school I don't learn too much english because I was lazy on this subject, because of that I don't know the gramar laws and sometimes I feel that i'm writing a lot of mistakes.
I think that writing comments in the entries of my classmates was a very good idea, because it makes that we read the texts of the other people, and sometimes it was a funny activity, some entries made laught sometimes.

Francisco the firefighter

There in the picture of the left, is a firefighter called Francisco, he is the earliest son of a 9 child family, which lives near of Santiago Chile. Because of his big family, Francisco had to went for the attention of his neighbour Pepe, who was a voluntary fire fighter (in Chile the fire fighters are all voluntaries, they don't get a salary for the job). Because of the influence of Pepe, Francisco enrolled to the firefighters of his town when he was 18 years old. Francisco loves to be a firefighter because anytime he extinguish fire and save the life of a person, he think that is saving all the world, specially because he don’t get a salary.

This picture was taken in October of 2011, when Francisco was getting ready for going to collect money in the street, to buy new coats and helmets for the summer. He is on the headquarters of the firefighter in his town, where they hold equipment like for example helmets, coats, hoses, cars, etc. His new helmet is under his arm, he is happy because they had get a lot of money in this month.

Pulp Fiction

This movie is about people related with crime at EEUU, so all the time is showing violence scenes and use of drugs, I like it.

Vincent, is a man who works for an important gangster Marsellus Wallace, with his colleague Jules, they have the mission of bring a mysterious briefcase to his dangerous boss. But they get in problems during their job, for example when Vincent shot in the face of a guy, and they got to clean the entire car before continuing the journey. Butch is another important character; he is a boxer who gets in problems after winning a fight, because a Marcellus had bound him to lose.

I love this movie, because the first time I saw it, I didn't catch the connection between the scenes almost the movie was finished, so at the final minutes of the film, I get impressed connecting all the scenes to understand the plot, this effect is successfully done. I also like the soundtrack and the cast, think the music creates a good atmosphere, and the actors make a good job.

Claude Lévi-Strauss

Claude Lèvi-Strauss was one of the most influential French ethnologist and anthropologist of the 20th century, and the center of the school of structuralist thinking. His thoughts have consequences on the sociology, anthropology, and the social sciences in general.

He was born in Belgium at 1908, but all his childhood passed in Paris. Lévi-Strauss studied law and philosophy in La Sorbonne, but after a while dropped law. In 1935, he and his wife went to Brazil, to study the natives cultures and as a visitor professor of sociology. At the second world war, he had to live in New York, where met Jakobson, and get a lot of  influence of linguistics methodology. He died 100 years old, in 2009.

One of the most important influences of Levi-Strauss, is about the way to study the "primitive" cultures, by this way, he contributed in the figth against the etnocentrism. Other influence is the use of the phonology in the social sciences as an methodological tool.

I think that the job of Levi-Strauss is incomparable, because of that, much people says  he is the most important social scientist of the XX century, in some ways I agree with that people. Althought his proposals can be in discussion, it's undeniable that are very useful for we, the beginners in the social sciences, also I think his writings are very fun, I enjoy a lot reading them.

Nostalgia de la luz

"Nostalgia de la luz" is an amazing drama film elaborated in 2010 by the famous Chilean documentarist Patricio Guzmán. The film shows different perspectives about the past, that get together in the desert of Atacama, the perspective of an archaeologist, that searchs remains of ancient cultures; the perspective of the family women of disappeared people in the Pinochet dictatorship, that are yet searching for their familiar corpses in the vast desert; and the perspective of an astronomer, that use the clear sky for the study of the stars.

I watched this film one week ago, and i think that the most important thing is the mixture presented between the wounds of the recent history, antropology, astronomy, politics, and all it showed in testimony of witnesses and experts. I found very interesant the idea of join parts of the reality that appears to be unrelated, but actually are very similar. I think the most emotional part of the film is the testimony of the women wish searches for their familiars.

I highly recommend this film.

The Shining

My favorite photo is not exactly a photo, it's a video frame, but i think it's equivalent. :D

The frame is from one of my favorites movies, "The Shining", directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1980, so if we have to attribute the photo to someone, he is the guilty. In the image, we can see a man showing his mad face through a broken door.

In this scene, the crazy father destroys a door with an axe, to capture his family, that were escaping scared. I remember that the first time i watch this movie, i freaked out with this scene, because the atmosphere of madness is very well done, i think it's the reason because it's my favorite picture.

"Here's Johnny" jajaja

My cat and his mustache

Two year ago (approximately on may), my brother Lucas, arrived home with a kitty that he met at the street, it seemed to be abandoned by his family, so we adopted it as our pet.
We called it Megan, as the famous actress Megan Fox, although i think that we should call it Stalin, as the Communist dictator of the URSS, because both of them have the same mustache (it is a funny and constant joke in my home with the people that met my cat for first time).
Some months after the arrive of this new integrant of our family, we noticed that it was putting in weight, so we carry it to the veterinarian, wich told us that our little kitty had became pregnant, and after a pair of months later, four little machines of cry and defecate.
After assure responsable families for the kittens, we operated Megan and untill now, there have been no problems.
I love my cat Megan, because is very welcoming and friendly, everytime that i arive home, she say me hello with a loud "Meooow!"

My favorite piece of technology

I’ve got an Ipod classic, and I think it’s my favorite piece of technology, because is the object that I use more often. One year ago I bought it in the internet, because in the Chilean stores, it was too expensive.

I only use my Ipod to listen to music because I don’t find the sense of watching videos on it, if I want to watch videos, I use my laptop. I usually listen to music when I’m at the bus or studying, because it helps me to keep me awake and escape from the boredom.

I only like it, because it has 160 GB of storage, so I don’t have to change the tunes every time I want to listen different music. My life without my Ipod would be very similar to my current life, the only thing that would change, is that I would be bored all the time.

2+2=5

Radiohead is a british band formed in 1985 in Abingdon, The actual members of the band are, Thom Yorke (voice and guitar), Colin Greenwood (bass and synth), Jonny Greenwood (guitars, piano), Ed O'Brien (second voices) and Phil Selway (drums).
They are a band identified with the 90’s generation of alternative rock, besides that they influence a lot of actual bands.
Radiohead is a strange mix of alternative rock, electronic and experimental things, I love how they get this mixture without saturating their songs.
They do everything with class and talent, creating quite good atmospheres. My favorite Radiohead album is “Hail to the Thief”, because all the songs are a sublime flow of feelings and mistery, I never get tired of it. Despit of it,my favorite song of the band is not in this album, it’s on “OK computer”, and is called “Karma Police”, I love this song because always I lisent it, I get relax.
